IBD Unmasked

In 2016, Takeda, with the support of Marvel, launched ‘The Unbeatables’, a graphic novel featuring a team of inflammatory bowel disease superheroes, as part of their IBD Unmasked campaign. The campaign set out to raise awareness of IBD, deliver educational resources and support, and to provide inspiration to people living with IBD.

As a member of the IBD Unmasked patient panel, I had a key role in ensuring the characters and story were relatable, correctly pitched and crucially a true representation of the patient story. I collaborated with the Marvel team during creation, and attended the premier of the first chapter at London Comic Con, speaking to press and members of the public.

After the launch, I presented my story and shared my contribution to the IBD Unmasked campaign internally at Takeda.
